A Note from Interim Principal, Mrs. Echols
Hello Fairmount Community,

Thank you for extending a warm welcome and sharing your community with me while Mrs. Klatt is out for a few weeks. Just a little about me, this is my 30+ year in education. I've been an administrator for 8 years both in the Edmonds School District and Stanwood- Camano School District. Prior to that I was an elementary teacher and an instructional coach. I live in Lake Stevens with my family and our yorkie, Milo. We have a senior at Lake Stevens High School which keeps us busy. On the weekend, you can find us cheering on the UW Huskies or hiking when the weather permits.

I've only been at Fairmount a few days and I can tell this is a great place to work and learn. It's been exciting to see students engaged in learning and building relationships throughout their day.  I will be at Fairmount until December 20 and Mrs. Klatt will return in January. Please reach out to me if you need anything during this time.

Kind Regards,
Julie Echols
Substitute Principal December 2024

2026 Capital Bond Advisory
We are looking for community members to serve on the 2026 Capital Bond Advisory Committee. The committee will process and prioritize a variety of data on all district building facility related needs resulting in a set of recommendations for the Superintendent and School Board to use to determine projects for a possible 2026 bond measure to be presented to voters. We need representatives from every school community bringing varied perspectives to help balance the committee’s work. Meetings will be held in the evenings on the first and third Tuesday of the month beginning January 21, and running through early-mid June, depending on progress.

Please consider applying through this online Google form by December 19.

After-School Chats
"What's in your backpack?"
Greet your child with this question, and you'll discover a lot about what they do in class

  • Set aside time each day to go through schoolwork. Try to do it first thing after school when the school day is fresh in mind.

  • Look over your child's work together, Help them feel proud by making a specific comment about something they've done. For instance, if they show you a picture drawn in class, you might say, "The gray sky and big waves look just like our rainy days at the beach."

  • Have them talk through Math problems or Science activities to show you what they've learned. They might explain how to find the perimeter of a triangle or why ants dig tunnels, for example.
