Accidents/Illness at School

If your child becomes ill or is injured at school, emergency first aid will be administered by a trained staff member.  You will be notified immediately in all cases of serious injury. 

Keep Students Home When:

  • Temperature of 100 degrees or higher
  • Vomiting or Diarrhea in the last 24 hours
  • Excessive nose/throat drainage due to cold
  • COVID-19 Symptoms or COVID-19 Positive

Symptomatic persons: Students may return to school when symptoms have improved, no diarrhea or vomiting within the last 24 hours, and/or fever-free without medication for 24 hours.  

Positive COVID cases: It is recommended (no longer required) that students who test positive for COVID stay home and isolate from others for at least 5 days following the onset of symptoms. Please call the school nurse for further guidance.   

 

Immunization

Proof of completed immunizations is required before children may attend school. 

 

Medication at School

When it is necessary to take medication during school hours:

  • A physician's and parent’s signatures are required on a District medication form.
  • The medication must be properly labeled in the original container. This includes all prescription and over-the-counter medications. 

By state law, medications for life-threatening conditions must be at school before the child’s first day.
