Fairmount Friday Forum- 1/9
Happy New Year! Welcome back, we hope you had a restful Winter Break!
A festive red background with white text reading 'HAPPY New Year 2026' and colorful fireworks.

Please Welcome Ms. Riley!

My name is Melissa (Mel), and I am blessed and excited to be part of this school and community! My background includes event and admin coordination within non-profit, finance, and hospitality. I love helping and connecting with people and thrive on kindness, sunshine, and positivity. As your new Office Assistant and paraeducator, I look forward to broadening my knowledge in helping students thrive and reach their full capabilities, both academically and creatively.

When I am not working, I love spending time at the Edmonds waterfront walking my dog Triscuit, cuddles with my cat Hermosa, painting, reading, gardening, and traveling whenever possible. I love Kauai and anywhere tropical. My 2026 goals are to learn watercolor painting, crochet, and pickleball.

Thank you for welcoming me with warm and open arms!

We'd Love To Hear From You!

We are inviting families to participate in a social emotional and well-being school climate survey again this year.

The family survey is open through February 2, 2026. The survey should only take 15 to 20 minutes to complete and is available in several languages including English, Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, Korean, Arabic and Vietnamese.

This survey helps us get a sense of how people are doing, and how we can better support students and families. Thank you for your support!

If you have any issues accessing the survey, please contact JoAnne Fabian at fabianjx@mukilteo.wednet.edu.

Recognizing Positive Choices

To celebrate students who follow expectations and show kindness aligned with our Bee You, Bee Kind, BeeLong theme, any staff member may award a student a Honeycomb for going above and beyond our schoolwide expectations. Students who receive a Honeycomb are recognized with lunch with the principal, a shout-out on the morning announcements, and a special certificate.

We are also honoring students who demonstrate positive behavior over time. Students with no behavior referrals will be invited to special recesses throughout the year. In addition, students who have no referrals for all of Trimester 1, for Trimesters 1 and 2 combined, and for the full school year will receive special recognition celebrating their efforts. Students with no referrals for Trimester 1, received a certificate and a special key chain.
Here is the list of students that received a Trimester 1 certificate:

A list of student names is organized by grade level, from Kindergarten to Grade 5.

Join us for an interactive session with district leaders to learn about the Feb. 10 school ballot!

Approval of the renewal learning levy would sustain 300 staff members and programs like athletics, arts, and campus safety, while passage of the capital construction bond would fund dozens of projects to improve student safety, replace outdated building systems, and modernize decades-old schools.
Bring your questions and hear directly from the leaders guiding this work. Learn more at: www.mukilteoschools.org/bondlevy2026
