December "Bee" Lunch with Principal Klatt

Students were honored celebrated today for going above and beyond Fairmount expectations. Did you know Mrs. Klatt opens her office each month to have lunch with these honored students? Next time you see your peers, ask them what they were recognized for. Congratulations!

Helping your child with Math at home!

Getting Started
Encourage your child to think about the problem before jumping in.
  • What do you already know about the problem?
  • What do you need to find out?
  • How might you begin?
  • What do you think you should do first?
  • Visual prompt idea: A chalkboard with colorful shapes, numbers, and symbols to spark curiosity.

While Working
Support their thinking without giving the answer.
  • How can you organize your information?
  • Can you make a drawing or model to show your thinking?
  • What would happen if ___?
  • What do you need to do next?
  • Do you see any patterns or relationships?
  • Can you predict what the answer might be?
  • Does this remind you of another problem you’ve done?

Reflecting
Help your child check and explain their reasoning.
  • Is your solution reasonable?
  • How did you arrive at your answer?
  • Can you convince me that your solution makes sense?
  • What did you try that didn’t work, and what did you learn from it?
