Principal Message

We are off to a great start this school year, and I want to thank each of you for your flexibility and understanding as we made adjustments after the first few days. Your support and patience ensured that we could move forward smoothly while keeping our focus on what matters most, our students. I truly appreciate the way our staff, families, and students have worked together to make the beginning of the year positive and successful.

Last week, we held our Back-to-School Assembly where we revisited our school-wide expectations: Be Responsible, Be Respectful, and Be Safe. We also tied these to our bee theme for the year—Bee You, Bee Kind, and BeeLong. These shared commitments will guide us in creating a safe, caring, and inclusive community where every student can thrive. I am excited about the year ahead and grateful to partner with you in this important work.

In Partnership,
Bente Klatt

Treat Policy

Birthday Treats at School

Fairmount new Policy

To honor students’ special days and support minimum disruptions to our learning environment we are implementing a new policy to provide clarity for bringing outside treats to school.

If you would like to bring a treat to celebrate your child’s birthday, please follow these expectations:

  1. Item must be store bought and include label of ingredients and allergy information.
  2. No hard candy is allowed due to choking hazard.
  3. Items must be small or bite size. For example, cookies or bite-size cupcakes are appropriate. Cakes or numerous items would not be appropriate and will be sent home.
  4. If your classroom is nut or peanut free, items must have clear labeling that they are nut or peanut free AND were made in a nut/peanut free facility.
  5. Treats will be provided during lunch only. Please have items at school prior to your child’s scheduled lunch. If they arrive later, we will pass them out the next day.
  6. No outside drinks.
  7. No party items.

Attendance Policy

Attendance Awareness

September is officially Attendance Awareness Month. Being on time and coming to school every day allows students to keep up with daily classroom activities, lessons, assignments, tests, and quizzes, and to complete these daily school tasks on time with their peers.

Academic Achievement- Students who attend school regularly are more likely to meet grade level standards on local and state assessments.
Opportunities- Regular attendees have opportunities such as access to counselors, participation in field trips, clubs, activities and more.

Feel a sense of belonging- Students who participate regularly in school feel a sense of belonging and that they are a member of something bigger than themselves. They learn teamwork, communication skills and valuable social skills.
What to do if your child is going to be absent:

  • Call the school attendance hotline: 425.366.2900
  • Leave a message with your student’s name, reason for the absence, date of absence, and parent/guardian first and last name.
  • Call or send a note with your student within 24 hours of absence for the absence to be excused.
